Project name: Feasible Technologies for Environmental Infrastructure
Location: China¡¯s Western Smaller Cities

Abstract:
The 40 million € FTEI programme aims at environmental improvement in Western China¡¯s small cities. The programme duration is 2005-2007. The Netherlands financially supports the FTEI programme with 15 million €. The FTEI programme has the following components:

Performed project components:

  • the design and construction of 10 demonstration sites: 6 wastewater treatment plants, 3 waste processing installations and 1 drinking water station
  • setting up guidelines and policies on market oriented policies
  • setting up guidelines and policies on pricing and charging
  • dissemination of the programme results

DHV's role in the project is transfer of experience and know-how in the field of environmental technology focused on wastewater treatment, solid waste management and drinking water supply and co-operation with the Chinese PEOs in the selection, design and supervision on the construction of the technical installations as well as co-operation with the Chinese PEOs on financial-economical activities as well as dissemination activities.

Project name: Exploratory Soil Survey
Location: Zhengzhou

Abstract:
This project concerns a feasibility study for the construction of a site for the production of display tube glass for the joint venture Anfei Electronic Glass Corporation. This new glass factory covers a total area of about 240.000 m2 and is to be constructed at the Zhengzhou National Economic Technological Development Area. Therefore, an exploratory soil survey on a potential industrial site at Anfei Electronic Glass Corp. Ltd. In Zhengzhou was carried out.

Project name: Site Cleaning Chupei
Location: Taiwan
Period: 2001-2006

Abstract:
At the former production site in Chupei, a soil and groundwater contamination occurred due to leakage of volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons in the past. Near the wastewater treatment unit, contaminated sludge was deposited during several years of operation.
Since the local legislation regarding to soil and groundwater contamination was still being developed, DHV helped the client to establish contamination standards in communication with the local government.

Project name: Cilegon Serang Emergency Preparedness
Location: Indonesia
Period: 2003-2005
Client: Ministry of Environment

Abstract:
The primary objective of the Cilegon Serang Emergency Preparedness Program was to review the current status of the local APELL implementation and strengthen preparedness for Kota Cilegon and Kabupaten Serang to the point where industries, emergency services and the local community will be able to collectively respond to industrial emergencies. An additional important objective is to prepare a draft national policy for industrial emergency preparedness that will be applicable for other industrial areas throughout Indonesia. This work shall be based on the strengthened preparedness, formulated for Kota Cilegon and Kabupaten Serang and will review existing policies, laws and regulations.
