Existing traffic infrastructure is under great pressure. Throughout the world, urban areas face a growing shortage of space, while mobility continues to increase. As a result, there is a growing demand for intelligent traffic management in terms of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and innovative methods of ensuring that existing traffic infrastructure is used as efficiently as possible. Technology plays an increasingly important role in this.

In Beijing, DHV and Delcan (DHV’s Canadian partner) are cooperating in the implementation of a traffic management system for effective control of the city’s fast-growing traffic. As part of the preparations for the Olympic Games that will be held in Beijing in 2008, DHV and Delcan will deliver a combined Incident Management System and Decision Support System to allow the police to assess the impact of incidents faster and more accurately and take more effective measures.
